LOOP LAB Studio

Three Missions

Workforce Development

Loop Lab Studio functions as a safe space where our alumni can continue their hands-on training in the field and to gain further production experience. Additionally, we hire from a broader network of women & People of color in Greater Boston to work on our productions.

Social Enterprise

In 2021 alone, Loop Lab Studios grossed over $250k in revenue and paid out over $100k in wages to minority talent. As a social enterprise, our production studio enables us to gain more financial independence, and not to become too reliant on support from grant money. Our “clonars,” our portmanteau for “donors” and “clients,” help us to continue supporting our mission to diversify the media arts and A/V industries in the region by hiring us for high-quality media work.

Amplify Culture Arts + Other Non-profit Arts Organizations

As an organization that is focused primarily on digital storytelling, Loop Lab Studios supports other nonprofits and cultural arts organizations to help them effectively tell their stories to an audience. We labor to amplify the works of other organizations, and to uplift the larger non-profit and arts communities in the region and beyond!

Testimonials

"I have been proud to partner with The Loop Lab to produce the powerful community stories of Jukebox. As an artist who works closely with communities, it’s important to me to collaborate with organizations that share my values and are striving to create positive change in the world. The Loop Lab’s vital mission to train women and people of color as AV professionals and to connect them with career opportunities immediately made me want to partner with them, and I’m so glad that I did. Executive Director Chris Hope is an extraordinary person; he genuinely cares about every young person The Loop Lab works with. Chris leads with The Loop Lab with compassion, determination, and a deep commitment to community. I’m so grateful that I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with The Loop Lab."

- Elisa Hamilton, Creator of Jukebox

“As a new group at MIT, we wanted the ability to showcase our work and the connections we’re making globally. The fastest and easiest way to do that was through a monthly podcast. Having already worked with The Loop Lab on another project, they seemed the logical choice. We had seen and heard samples of their work so we knew they were well versed in creating amazing visuals and sound. When it came time to finalize an agreement, they were prompt and professional and answered all of our questions without hesitation. As we started creating content, they worked with us on our pace to make sure we were still hitting our deadlines, but not sacrificing quality. We’re now on a regular schedule for providing content and having our audio transformed into polished and published podcasts each month - a somewhat remarkable feat considering nobody from our team had any experience with podcast creation prior to this launch. We can’t thank The Loop Lab enough for how amazingly easy they’ve made each step of this process.”

Stephen Nelson, MIT Integrated Learning Initiative (MITili)

"It was great for SIF to partner with The Loop Lab (2021 Social Innovator) on the videos for our 2022 Social Innovators. Their team was helpful and accommodating to the Innovators' needs. They produced videos for eight Innovators to share with their networks to continue supporting their organizations approach to social change. We proudly support Loop Lab's mission of creating long-term media opportunities for Women and People of Color."
